Making a difference in the lives of children
helping Children and THE POOR Reach Their Full Potential
HOW WE CARE!
THE BADJAO CHILDREN
Civil Registration
The right to a name and a nationality is one of the most fundamental human rights and children who are not registered do not officially exist. The majority of the Badjao children do not have birth certificates which can complicate enrollment at school. The project facilitates the processing of the child’s civil registration.
Health and Hygiene Monitoring
The living condition and health practices of the Badjaos affects their health and hygiene badly and contributes to discrimination at school. The project intends to improve the health condition and hygiene of Badjao children by providing needed hygiene kits.
Educational Assistance
The core component of the project is sending Badjao children to school until they complete their basic K-12 education. The educational assistance covers school supplies, uniforms, fees, and other incidental expenses. It also offers tutoring to narrow the learning gap between Badjao children and their classmates.
Meal Assistance
Many Badjao children skip school or stop attending school because of hunger. Meal assistance provides Badjao children the food needed to encourage attendance at school – with the intent of completing their K-12 education.
Training and Informal Education
Our emphasis on peace-building, family dynamics, and leadership training seeks to create a harmonious and empowered social fabric. Additionally, environmental stewardship education will empower communities to become responsible custodians of their surroundings.
